Byzantine Cross workshop – Great Escapes
What a fantastic weekend I had with the girls at my Byzantine Cross workshop in Barnett Hill with Great Escapes! It was intensive and very challenging, but they came through like real troopers and made some stunning versions of my Cross design. That was what I was waiting for, to see how the crosses turned out in their chosen colours. Take a look in the Students’ Work page at some of their lovely pieces. Throughout the weekend retreat you can bead endlessly, if you can keep your eyes open after the splendid feasts they provide – boy do they feed you well there! Aside from the beadwork, the surroundings are wonderful – I got up very early on Sunday morning and followed one of the lovely woodland trails, past stone sculptures, fountains, glimpsing rabbits gambolling and flashes of brilliant golden pheasant feathers; the air smelt so fresh and crisp, and as the grounds are surrounded by quite a deep valley, I could look down upon swathes of mist amongst the trees. Beautiful, just beautiful. Sadly the weekend whizzes by so quickly, so I can’t wait until I return there in September to teach my Beaded Bottles workshop.
