Knitting & Stitching Show – Oct 2013
Wow, what a busy time it’s been for me recently, with weekend workshops at Great Escapes and Stitchncraft, and then came the Knitting & Stitching Show in Alexandra Palace. The interesting thing about teaching workshops at Ally Pally is that the students are all virtually new to beadwork and that means all the beading ‘language’ and terms too! As I always say, I love that Eureka moment when students ‘get’ it, particularly novices, and I was delighted to see them walking away, actually wearing their Crystal Finger Candy Rings or carrying their completed Crystal Rosette Pendants.
It was lovely dropping into the Beadworkers Guild stand and seeing our lovely girls – Sylvia, Liz, Sue and Jane Marie – for a quick chat. The display was looking superb and I loved the beaded postcards. I had an opportunity to browse around the exhibition before I left each day, and it didn’t fail to amaze and inspire me as always. I’m in awe of some of the textiles and originality of the artists’ work – it’s one hell of a show, not to be missed!
