Himawari Ring

The Himawari Pearl Ring is based around a beautiful coin pearl with South Seas seed and rice pearls in the fringing. The size 15 Czech Charlottes and cut seed beads add gentle sparkle to the ring.

Although you see pink initially when you look at the central pearl, the closer you look the more soft, luminous greens appear. It’s got a lovely lustre.

Himawari is Japanese for Sunflower which I thought was an appropriate name for this design.

I visited the fabulous Pearls exhibition at the V&A with my Mother recently, and found it utterly fascinating how pearls are cultured in different shapes. Although I made this ring about 5 years ago, now I understand exactly how the coin pearl was made!
